It's tough being a goofy-footer in Santa Monica
I've searched high and low for a nice left point break, or maybe a hollow beach break. There are a few, but LA is the land of right point breaks and racy right handed beach breaks. Sorry tropical pals, no reef breaks here for few million years now.
Zeros aka: Nicolas Canyon is the best place for a goofy footer in the LA area. This sweet spot is about 5 miles north of Zuma beach in Malibu. This spot is best on a low tide and can handle large waves pretty well. There are two main peaks.
Drainpipes on Westwards beach on the backside of Zuma beach is a powerful beach break if you are a better than average surfer. Best on a south swell and in the 2' - 3' range. Any bigger and it gets pretty gnarly.
